- GLI102 — Algorithms & Problem Solving (5) — Breaking a problem down, writing the steps, then measuring whether the solution is any good.
- GLI103 — Programming I: Python (5) — Your first real language, taken to the point where you can debug your own work.
- GLI104 — Computer Architecture (3) — What actually happens under the code: bits, processor, memory, storage, input and output.
- GLI105 — Operating Systems & Linux (3) — The command line, files, permissions and processes — the daily environment of a developer.
- GLI106 — Web Foundations (4) — How the web works, then HTML, CSS and the first JavaScript that makes a page respond.
- GLI107 — Database Systems I (4) — Modelling real information, then querying it correctly in SQL.
- GLI108 — Technical English & Professional Communication (3) — Reading documentation, writing it, and explaining your work to people who are not developers.
Semester 2 — Application development — 30 credits
- GLI201 — Object-Oriented Programming (4) — Classes, objects, inheritance and the design decisions behind them, in Python or Java.
- GLI202 — Data Structures & Algorithms (4) — Choosing the right structure, and being able to say why the other one would have been slower.
- GLI203 — Database Systems II (3) — Transactions, indexes, security and the difference between a query that works and one that scales.
- GLI204 — Full-Stack Web Development I (5) — A complete application: interface, API, database and authentication, deployed.
- GLI205 — Computer Networks (3) — What happens between the browser and the server, and what to check when it fails.
- GLI206 — Requirements Engineering & UML (3) — Finding out what the client really needs before a single line of code is written.
- GLI207 — Git, GitHub & Collaborative Development (2) — Working with other people on the same code without losing anybody’s work.
